Getting Started with the Time Tracker

Set up the Pitch Planner time tracker by creating a team, adding players, choosing a format, and running your first live playing-time match.

The Time Tracker helps coaches track playing time, substitutions, goals, assists, cards, saves, and more during matches. Every player’s minutes are recorded automatically so you can ensure fair playing time.

Create a Team

  1. Go to My Teams from the sidebar, or open /app/teams
  2. Tap New Team or Create Team
  3. Enter a team name, age group, and default format (4v4, 5v5, 7v7, 8v8, 9v9, or 11v11)
  4. Tap Save

If your plan is already at its active-team limit, New Team is disabled and the page shows a team-count limit such as 1 / 1. Choose the active team you want to keep or upgrade before creating another team. The player limit is also based on your plan, not the match format.

Add Players

  1. Open your team from the dashboard
  2. Tap Add Player
  3. Enter the player’s first name, last name (optional), jersey number (optional), and position (optional)
  4. Repeat for each player on your roster

Start a Match

  1. Go to Matches from the team dashboard
  2. Tap New Match
  3. Fill in the opponent name, match date, format, match structure, period lengths, and Target Min %
  4. Tap Create Match to enter the lineup setup

Changing the format updates the default period lengths: 4v4 and 5v5 use 20-minute halves, 7v7 and 8v8 use 25, 9v9 uses 30, and 11v11 uses 40. Choose Halves or Quarters, then edit the period lengths if needed. Quarter matches use Q1 through Q4 and split each half into two periods.

Set Up the Lineup

The setup has 4 steps:

  1. Choose a starting lineup — start fresh, use last match’s lineup, or pick a saved lineup
  2. Select players — pick your starters and optionally choose a formation. You can mark absent players as “Not Attending”
  3. Plan rotations (optional) — set automatic substitution intervals, or skip for manual subs
  4. Confirm & Start — review the lineup, then choose Confirm Lineup & Start Match, Save for Manager, or Save & End Match

During the Match

  • The game clock runs automatically with a progress bar
  • Tap a bench player, then tap a field player to substitute
  • Use the Goal, Assist, and Opp Goal buttons to record match events
  • If enabled in settings: Pass, Shot, YC, RC, and GK Save buttons can also appear
  • The score is shown live at the top
  • Use the formation control above the field to change to another valid formation while the match is live or paused. On touch or pen devices, drag players or tap two players to swap their slots.
  • For halves, tap End Half to go to halftime, then Start 2nd Half when ready. For quarters, use End Quarter and Start Next Quarter.
  • Tap End Match when the game is over

After the Match

Depending on your match tools settings:

  • Player of the Match — select a standout player
  • Penalty Shootout — record penalty kicks if the game went to PKs

The Match Summary shows:

  • Final score and player of the match
  • Per-player minutes, goals, assists, cards, and saves
  • Substitution timeline and position heatmap
  • Export to PDF or CSV, or post to your team feed
