How does a youth soccer substitution planner handle a live match?

The live match clock stays separate from each player’s clock. When a player comes off, their minutes stop; when the next player comes on, their minutes start. That gives the coach a current view of the rotation without stopping the game.

Use the same screen for routine substitutions and the changes nobody planned: a late arrival, a twisted ankle, a water break, or a tactical switch. The record changes with the match instead of becoming a second job after it.

Why coaches use it

See the information you need during the match.

A match-day tracker should make substitutions easier, not add another dashboard.

Live minutes, no maths

Every player's clock ticks while they are on the field. Pitch Planner handles percentages while you watch the game.

Two-tap substitutions

Tap the bench player, then tap the player coming off. The match clock keeps running and the minute record updates automatically.

Field-ready controls

Big buttons, readable in sunlight, screen stays awake, and match tracking works offline. Designed for one-handed sideline use.

Ready for real changes

Handle late arrivals, injuries, water breaks, and tactical swaps without rebuilding the rotation chart from memory.

Fairness stays visible

See who is on target, short, or over before the last substitution window closes.

A clean recap

Finish with player minutes, match events, and a record you can use when planning the next lineup.

Why use a tracker

Soccer substitution tracker vs spreadsheet vs paper chart.

Spreadsheets and rotation charts can work before the match. They break when a player arrives late, gets hurt, needs a rest, or a coach has to make a quick tactical change.

Soccer rotation planner

Build a soccer substitution schedule before kick-off.

Pick a rotation interval (6, 8, or 10 minutes) and match length. The soccer player rotation planner generates a full substitution schedule that balances minutes evenly across your roster.

The plan runs as a visual timeline. Override any slot by hand, the planner rebalances around your change. Amber "sub now" dots at every transition so you never miss a swap.

Live match

Track soccer substitutions and player minutes as the match happens.

The soccer substitution tracker shows the match clock and each player's minutes. Pause every counter for a water break, injury, or referee stoppage, then tap a substitution without stopping the match clock.

Goals, assists, and cards log without leaving the match view. Screen wake-lock keeps your phone on. Works offline, syncs later.

  • Tap-to-pause halts every counter at once
  • Amber pulse when a player is over target
  • Offline-first, syncs when Wi-Fi returns

Equal playing time

A soccer playing time tracker for fairer minutes.

Pick a target percentage: 40, 50, or 60% of the match. This soccer minutes tracker checks every player's time against it, live. Green bar means they've hit the target. Amber bar means they're short.

At the end of the match, anyone who fell short is flagged automatically in the recap so you know who to start next week. Season totals roll up across every match.

Post-match recap

Soccer match recaps from live substitution tracking.

After the match, the post-match recap is already done. Final score, per-player minutes, goals, assists, cards, target-percentages, and playing-time flags.

Goal timeline runs down the card. Player-of-the-match picks itself based on minutes + goal contributions. Export the whole match to CSV for your own records.

Common questions

Live substitution tracking, explained.

Using Match Day is simple: set the plan, tap the real changes, and review the minutes after the match.

What does a soccer substitution tracker track?
A live rotation plan, player minutes, equal playing-time targets, match events, and a post-game recap, all from one phone.
How do you track equal playing time?
Set a target before kickoff, start the match clock, and tap each substitution. Pitch Planner works as an equal playing time tracker, showing who is on target, short, or over.
Does it work on the sideline?
Yes. It works in mobile browsers with big tap targets, screen wake-lock, and offline match tracking. No app download and no spreadsheet are required.
What happens when a player needs an unplanned break?
Tap the player coming off and the player going on. The match clock keeps running while both player-minute totals update, so an injury, water break, or tactical change does not erase the record.
Can I review the match after it ends?
Yes. The recap keeps the final score, goals, assists, cards, substitutions, player minutes, and playing-time status together so the next lineup starts with better information.
